Minnesota Vikings have named Jim Green as their new GM as the start of the DFL season approaches. Star man: Adrian Peterson
Green has promised that his team will play positive football and revealed that he is confident that the Vikings have the players to go all the way in 2009. "I'm very happy with our roster," he said. "We have some exciting offensive players and plenty of defensive options. People know all about guys like Peterson, Hutchinson and Allen but I expect a few others to step up their game too." However, despite his comments Green has already made some changes to the Vikings roster. Tampa Bay safety Tanard Jackson and wide receiver Maurice Stovall have joined the franchise in a trade that saw rookie Percy Harvin, Madieu Williams and a fifth round pick head to the Buccaneers. Jackson is a 24-year-old product of Syracuse University who was drafted by the Buccs in 2007. He is known for his speed and hard-hitting defense and Green is delighted to have landed the Maryland native. New recruit: Tanard Jackson "We felt we needed more quality in the safety position and Tanard will deliver that," said Green. "He's a young guy with a lot of potential and I expect hime to develop and become a key player for us." The Vikings will take on San Diego and Tampa Bay in exhibition matches before starting their DFL campaign with a trip to NFC North rivals Chicago Bears in a mouth watering encounter.
