Please note that this guide only applies to the signing of free agents during the regular season and not the off-season.Any real life NFL player not currently assigned to a DFL club is regarded as a free agent. The first process of signing a free agent is to instruct your team scouts to file a report on the player. This is done by sending a PM to the Commissioner listing the player you wish to scout. Your scouts will then provide a report on the players abilities and contract demans which will be available for all DFL owners to view in the Scouting Centre. All teams will then have 48 hours in which to offer the player a deal. The offer should be made in the Signings & Cuts board following the guidelines listed there in. Once all offers have been considered the player will join the team offering the highest total contract value. For example, a 2-year deal worth $3m per year is better than an a 1-year deal woth $5m. The player will then join his new team. If no offers are received the player will remain on the free agent list until an offer is received. Once an offer has been made other teams have 48 hours to make their own offers and the player will then join the team offering the highest total contract value. There is no limit on the number of scouting requests a club can make.
