I can see your point but 75% of the rosters are up now and the remaining few will be up tonight or tommorrow morning so I'm happy enough for people to start trading.
If anything people may be doing themselves out of a better deal if they trade now.

If anything people may be doing themselves out of a better deal if they trade now. I am sure that will settle some minds (sorry I was slightly defending those without a voice (or is that roster). Will there also be a pool of FA's at all? And when does the "Regular Season" start for the purposes of FAQ - 8. Contracts: "Players can be signed and released at any time with the exception of any announced roster freeze periods. If a player is released during the course of the regular season, the team is penalized for the remainder of his total salary for the current season." Is that after the proposed exhibition games? - or are you defining regular season as something else. TIA.

There will be a pool of free agents - that'll be released when all rosters are up.
Having just read the wording of that section of the FAQ it needs amending. It should read...
If a player is released at any time, the team is penalized for the remainder of his total salary for the current season.
What this means is that if you release a player on a 1-year deal worth $1m then you will be penalized $1m. If you release a player on a 2-year deal worth $2m you will be penalized $4m.

Right, now I'm really confused...(dont know why I wasnt confused about this before)
Whe you say penalized $1mil....$1mil of what? Is it deducted from our salary cap for this season? Or added to the expenditure? And when does it then return to normal. Or am I looking at this the wrong way and its not actually that confusing...

AND, when you trade players, do they remain on the same contract with the other team? Or do you have to offer another one - for example, you trade in a player with 5 years left, do you have to fulfill their contract from the other team?

so then if we have a player who isn't a starter but has a 3 yr contract for 3 mil we have to just sit and watch it play as nobody has 9 mil to drop let alone get a FA for .5 that will sit on bench. Then why is there FA's? or can we drop these bench warmers that are over priced before we start?

And looking into this further, You are required to have a certain quota of players right, but the Chargers have 1 million left on the salary cap.
With amount of players who are on 1 year left at the moment, extending all of their contracts by just 1 year will surely leave me well over the cap...so I have to let them become free agents and sign them on for the same fee or find cheaper equal or cheaper replacements...
I'm ok with this this if everyone has to do it but I just need it clearing up.

Yep - I think as it is structured at the moment we are going to have dead weight on the bench which can't be shifted. Only hope is that these guys improve in training camp, otherwise its wait until contract ends, then (I presume they drop off your roster) and you have a vacant slot to be filled by a FA or draft.
Drafting - hey thats a point with even more complication - what if you don't have say 7 slots (through retirement/expired contracts) what happens to your drafts..... now even more confused.
Sorry Comm we seem to be bombarding you.....

I think we may have to adopt a system where you can have more than 50 (say up to 60 or 70 ) But can only submit a 50 man squad in your orders and just adjust the salary cap to compensate. Maybe make a practice sqaud system where training points count double?
Just throwing it out there. We may have got this totally wrong and if so sorry Boss lol \\nn//
